Kahin bhi jayen (Deosai, Satpara, Khapu, Shigar, Kachura..) anywhere, koi khof nahi aur mazey sey ghomein.... enjoy karen, especially BALTI culture, logon sey milna, baat karna aur un key sath experience share karna bohat hi maza aya. بی بی سی اردو ڈاٹ کام بلتستان کے شہر سکردو سے خپلو کی طرف جانے والی تنگ پہاڑی سڑک کے دائیں جانب نہایت اونچے پہاڑ اور بائیں جانب سینکڑوں فٹ نیچے دریا بہہ رہا ہے۔اس سڑک پر ڈرائیوروں کے لیے ایک بورڈ نصب ہے۔ خبردار۔یہاں غلطی کا موقع دوبارہ نہیں ملتا۔۔۔۔۔۔ مجھے یوں لگا جیسے یہ انتباہ نہیں بلکہ انتباہ کے بہانے پاکستان کی سیاسی تاریخ کو ایک جملے میں بند کردیا گیا ہے۔پھر مجھے یوں لگا جیسے پاکستان کوئی چونسٹھ سال پرانا ملک نہیں بلکہ چونسٹھ کلومیٹر کی ایک تنگ سی سڑک ہے جس کے دائیں جانب سٹیٹس کو کا پہاڑ اور بائیں جانب سازشوں کی سینکڑوں فٹ گہری کھائیوں کے درمیان دریائے منافقت اچھلتا کودتا بہہ رہا ہو۔ آپ چاہیں تو میرے ساتھ آنکھیں بند کر کے بھی چونسٹھ کلومیٹر طویل شاہراہ پاکستان پر سفر کرسکتے ہیں۔مگر پہلے میں اس کے بارے میں کچھ بنیادی معلومات دینا چاہتا ہوں تاکہ آپ لاعلمی میں مارے نا جائیں۔ پہلی بات یہ کہ اس شاہراہ پر ابتدا میں پانچ ٹول پلازہ ہوا کرتے تھے لیکن ایک ٹول پلازہ لینڈ سلائڈنگ میں ختم ہوگیا۔اب چار ٹول پلازہ ہیں۔جنہیں ہر بار نیلامی کے زریعے ٹھیکے پر دیا جاتا ہے ۔اکثر انہیں ہی ٹھیکہ مل جاتا ہے جنہیں پہلے بھی ملتا رہا ہے۔ یہاں ڈیفنس اور ڈپلومیٹک کور کے سوا کوئی نمبر پلیٹ ٹول ٹیکس سے مستسنٰی نہیں ہے۔ دوسری بات یہ کہ چونسٹھ کلومیٹر میں سے تینتیس کلومیٹر خاصے آرام دہ ہیں۔دس کلومیٹر ، تین کلومیٹر، گیارہ کلومیٹر اور نو کلومیٹر پر مشتمل چار سیکشنز میں کہیں کہیں چھوٹے موٹے موڑ اور رکاوٹیں آجاتی ہیں لیکن سفر نسبتاً آسان ہے۔ جبکہ باقی اکتیس کلومیٹر خاصےخطرناک ہیں ۔ان میں جگہ جگہ گڑھے ہیں۔کچھ حصے کچے اور پتھریلے ہیں اور بیس کے لگ بھگ نوکیلے موڑ بھی ہیں۔انہی اکتیس کلومیٹرز میں لینڈ سلائڈنگ سے خبردار کرنے والے سرخ بورڈ بھی جگہ جگہ نصب ہیں۔چار دفعہ تو اتنی بھاری لینڈ سلائڈنگ ہوچکی ہے کہ ٹریفک طویل طویل عرصے تک معطل رہا۔ اب تک ان اکتیس کلومیٹر میں درجنوں حادثات ہوچکے ہیں۔ پندرہ حادثات تو ایسے ہوئے جن میں گاڑی ڈرائیور سمیت سینکڑوں فٹ نیچے دریا میں گری اور غائب ہوگئی۔کسی کا ٹائی راڈ کھل گیا ، کسی پر زیادہ وزن لدا ہوا تھا ، کوئی باتوں میں لگ گیا ، کسی کی آنکھ جھپک گئی تو کوئی چرس پیتا رہ گیا ، کسی کو موڑ نظر نہیں آیا تو کوئی دائیں جانب کے پہاڑ سے ٹکرا کر نیچے اترگیا۔ مگر جہاں جہاں سے یہ سڑک گزرتی ہے وہاں وہاں کے مقامی لوگوں کا کہنا ہے کہ یہاں روزانہ سینکڑوں سویلین اور فوجی گاڑیاں دکھائی دیتی ہیں لیکن اسے اتفاق کہہ لیں یا خدا کی رحمت کہ اب تک جتنے بھی بڑے حادثات ہوئے وہ سویلین گاڑیوں کو ہی پیش آئے۔ ٹریفک کے دباؤ میں اضافے کے سبب اب سٹرٹیجک اہمیت والی اس چونسٹھ کلومیٹر سڑک کی تعمیر و مرمت و توسیع کی ضرورت محسوس کی جا رہی ہے۔تین پرانے ٹھیکیداروں نے ٹینڈر بھرے ہیں مگر ریٹس پر جھگڑا پڑا ہے۔ مجاز اتھارٹی کو اختیار ہے کہ بغیر وجہ بتائے وہ کوئی بھی ٹینڈر منظور یا مسترد کرسکتی ہے ، دوبارہ ٹینڈر طلب کرسکتی ہے ، کسی بھی ٹھیکیدار کو بلیک لسٹ کر کے نئے ٹھیکیدار کو شارٹ لسٹ کرسکتی ہے یا پورا عمل ہی غیر معینہ مدت تک ملتوی کرسکتی ہے۔

With numerous natural lakes in Baltistan , trout fishing is very much possible combined with soft adventures in the hilly terrain and lush green patches of mountain.
Skardu Airport (IATA: KDU, ICAO: OPSD) is a small domestic airport, located at Skardu, Northern Areas, Pakistan. Skardu is one of the two major hubs of all trekking expeditions in the Northern Areas, a region that includes four of the fourteen Eight-thousander peaks (8,000 m (26,247 ft) and above) of the world. Skardu is the gateway to Baltoro Glacier, Concordia, where spectacular views of three of the Eight-thousanders are available.It is also being used as a regional PAF airbase.
Although the journey from Islamabad to Skardu by Karakoram Highway provides a beautiful scenery, the journey by road takes 20 to 24 hours whereas the flight time for the same journey is nearly an hour. This makes air travel from Islamabad to Skardu an attractive choice for many trekkers.
Skardu is the only airport in Pakistan which gets only jet Boeing 737 aircraft, flights are depending heavily on weather conditions and are often canceled at any time and resumed on short notice.

The trough of this glacier is very wide. Small valley glaciers form icefalls where they meet the trunk glacier. The sidewalls vary from very steep to precipitous.
